comment from JURORs

James Law
*Very OPOD with an engineered twist. Like it!*

Janet Salem
* An Elegant and simple design that looks beautiful and it functional. The design is thoughtful towards the environment, taking resources from rain, dew and sun, while also being resistant to wind and having a light footprint on the ground. The windows make a small space feel larger, and some flexibility in the interior could have been an interesting addition*

DESIGN FOR EXTENSION TO ALVAR AALTO MUSEUM

''It has been a wonderful experience to participate in this competition....''

Competition entry for Alvar Aalto museum in Jyvaeskylaes  Finland

We capture time  and space, a place for delassment encompassing the ancient soul, a space carved out in which the 'other' is revealed.

We uncover a forgotten hinterland , rejecting any defailance of will around the eviscerated coup d,essai, and deliver it deep levels of experience, likened to a palimpsest, a retour of the Raummasse, daily noises and encounters waiting to be discovered and celebrated.

We are captivated by Kahn's prehistoric living values and not find that the spaces merely are ars gratis artis. We should always try to resist the creeping cruaute of the complacent mind.

In seeking out the new variant/ prinzip which can form every other variant of the other we occupy the voids spanning the walls of past associated meanings  but these are both vivid and insignificant, bright and miserable, tensed and tolerable and you stroll through them.... reflect...depart on.....

Highly

Commended

DESIGN FOR TEMPORARY CINEMA , BATH

'' a complimentary design that enhances Victoria Park in Bath''

''THERE IS A POOL OF TALENT OUT THERE IN THE COMMUNITY''

The Imagine Bath exhibition was held in the open air, in the colonnades underneath Grand Parade, Bath. This amazing space is not currently open to the public and has amazing close-up views of the roaring Pulteney Weir. Students from the University of Bath Spa Theatre Production programme have helped to design and construct the easels, which lined the colonnades during the exhibition.

This exhibition was organised by RIBA South West office - March 2015.
