HOUSE IN THE FOREST
In the Forest, one has the opportunity to use carbon-zero technology, making this a 100% sustainable home that integrates energy saving systems with the landscaping and the surrounding area. The main concept is to provide a truly independent model, which is sensitive to the forest and compatible with its natural surroundings.
Nature of the Materials
In accordance with the design concept, the essential prerequisites are that this home shall have certain features that enhance the forest area. The desire is to contribute to the well- being of the area, rather than to exploit it.
The main thrust of this concept is to contribute substantially to this area, so that anyone living here will enjoy the sheer beauty of this part of the forest. The main intention is to make this proposal as green as possible, with its constant visual connection to the surrounding trees and to utilize the available natural resources efficiently, thereby facilitating a joyful feeling in this home. Other green initiative involve the utilization of a water filters, geothermal loops and solar window technologies on the roof that contribute to the house’s environmental presence.
Construction
As the basis for the concept of this House, the conical-shaped structure which suggest pine cones is the underlining metaphor for the basic structure. The pine cones serve as a good reminder of the surrounding forests and it is an ambition to emulate nature and to integrate this home into the forest. Constructed from local wood, laminated frames will support the exterior shading structure, allowing one to have some sun glare protection.
Smart glass
Attached to the timber elements, one has the smart glass technology.
The benefits of having smart glass can summarized as the ability to;
Eliminate the need for blinds and shades.
Preserve daytime and nighttime views.
Minimize glare.
Reduce heating and cooling requirements.
Operate the windows using home automation system and iPhone.
In essence, this home shall serve as an inspiring prototype for future generations who desire to live in the forests. The design is a serious attempt to reconnect with nature and to reinforce the green credentials for forest constructions. The period of construction will be short and can easily be assembled using timber prefabricated elements. The use of timber will produce a natural sustainable environment that will benefit everyone.
In the final analysis, these framework structures offer one unique opportunity to recover from the stresses of the urban lifestyle and the plan is to provide a series of open structures that is fully compatible within the surrounding forest area.
