Camboo- a place of peace
Design for tranquility and refuge
The project is conceived as a series of skeleton boxes, which can be assembled prior to its final installation on site. The vertical and horizontal components are fastened together based on a 1M grid system to create a series of frames, supporting an array of baskets. These baskets hold a range of local plants in order to highlight its own relevance to the market place here.
This project is an endeavor to connect the people of this city to nature and to help their own sense of peace, solace and to offer them a place of comfort within the boundaries of this plot.
The design is a serious attempt to reconnect with nature and to reinforce the green breathing space in the urban grey context. The framework cubes offer a place of tranquility too and the opportunity to meditate/ relax in this part of the city.
The landmark structure is expected to take up ten days to erect and can easily be constructed using a series of bolted frames. The use of bamboo will produce a natural sustainable environment that will benefit everyone.
In the final analysis, these framework structures offer one an unique opportunity to recover from the large empty and open desolate urban spaces and the plan is to provide a series of flower boxes allowing one to even grow, whenever this is possible the various herbs and flowers which can be sold during the festivals in Freedom Park, Phnom Penh.
