INTO THE FOREST

At the Blue Clay Spa, one has the opportunity to use carbon-zero technology, making this Centre 100% sustainable that integrates all systems with food production. The main concept is to provide a truly independent model, which is sensitive to Nature and is compatible with its natural forest environment.

The major structural component is wood, taken from the local forests and built together with light aluminum framework that will enable the first tree branches to grow around the Blue Clay Centre. One can call this component the ‘the tree wall’. The natural inclusion of planting into the elevation is a major consideration of this proposal, for the integration of the Centre with the surrounding Forests.

On the roof, on both the Centre and the staff accommodation solar power panels provide energy in order to make this building to become more energy efficiency.

The nature of the Materials

In accordance with the design concept, the essential prerequisites for the Blue Clay Centre should have certain features that enhance the local environment.

The desire is to contribute to the well-being of this area, rather than to exploit it.

Durability

The desire here is use the building materials which are organic and sustainable and which will contribute to the environment. A good example is Wood.

This material is obtainable and by its own nature, easy to assemble. This will allow the builders to construct the Centre quickly.

In terms of the durable strategy, the main Endeavour is to:

- assemble the more buoyant and cost effective construction,

- ensconce and use an off grid alternative as much as possible,

- nourish the users with enough freshly grown food from the Farm nearby.

Wind power

In addition to solar power, one has the possibility to use wind power. The small windmills can be discreetly located near the Farm. This will add value to the project’s credentials as a serious green Centre that is intent on using the natural resources.

Sewage treatment

The main aim is to contain, use and reuse all household sewage indoors and outdoors and which can be channeled into food production and landscaping with no pollution of aquifers.

The proposal is to utilize the toilets too that flush with treated gray water and which do not smell.

The main thrust of the concept is to contribute greatly to this area and that anyone who will visit this place will experience the sheer beauty of this part of Latvia and at the same time enjoy the Blue Clay treatments. The intention is make this proposal as green as possible and to utilize all the available natural resources, thus giving the visitors and users at this Centre a joyful feeling.
