FILLING STATIONS
TYPOLOGY< Public, Transport
STATUS<[2015] Competition
LOCATION> Colombia and Oslo Norway
The Vision here is to create beautiful and inspiring experiences, while at the same time utilize the strategic locations of these sites to spread the important message about alternative energy.
The design of the roof structures will create shelter, safety and a sense of seclusion to arriving travellers.
Site 1, Colombia
Under the roof, the traveller encounters the distinct open light space merging with daylight filtering through the roof, whch gives rise to a poetic and beautiful sense of place.
Technology
The roof consists of steel framework integrated with glazing and solar panels and the filling station is therefore afforded an economically sustainable basis upon which to operate.
Energy and water
The filling station has installations which make it self-sufficient in term of water supply and energy.
Thermal power panels are placed upon the roof, generating electricity and warm water.
Lighting
The play of light is an important theme here and the ascending beams of light at this location provide travellers with an uplifting experience.
Site 2, Norway
At site two, under the fluid shape of the roof, it is envisaged that the ceiling has a reflective surface and playful lighting.
The roof construction is conceived as a flat structure covered by landscaping.
The green roof will provide the essential green credentials to this project and is easily accessible via a spiral staircase. On the roof the travellers may enjoy the surrounding views and look at the plant life.
The overall desire here is to create a pulsating dynamic point for both sites that will exude joy and energy to passing travellers.
